What to Expect In Early Sobriety
What We Wish We Knew About the First 30 Days of Sobriety
Born and raised in the Grand Valley of Colorado, Micah enjoys living here for the weather and
community! Her summers are occupied with paddle boarding, traveling with family, swimming, hot springs, and really anything involving water!
Micah has an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts where she graduated from Colorado Mesa University, CMU in 2013. For the last decade she spent summers in Alaska, winters at prestigious ski resorts, crafting her skills in the kitchen and working her way up to Sous Chef. Maintaining that lifestyle began to catch up to Micah. Recovery happened for Micah in 2023 when her lifestyle came to a stop. Micah collapsed when her body shut down from alcoholism, sending her to the hospital. This is where she then met Dr. Jackman. He
helped her with everything and introduced her to Peer 180, Recovery Center Organization (RCO). This is where she found Peer-to-peer support, and knew right then this is what she needed to do! Help people like herself, going through the dark and start showing the light!
Micah began getting involved by volunteering with Peer 180, helping with events, going to meetings, and started to take Peer Recovery Coach trainings to become a Peer coach herself. Micah has now become a part of the Peer 180 team as a Peer Coach Intern. She has had the honor of facilitating the Women’s Warrior Down Wellbriety Group each Saturday at the RCO as well. Micah is in active sustained
recovery for 16 months now, from alcohol and drugs. What recovery means to her, is that she is becoming the person that The Creator originally intended her to be.

My name is Amy and I am a recovering alcoholic that currently resides in Texas.
I have dealt with varying degrees of my alcoholism in the 33 years that I was active in my addiction.
I took my first drink with the intent to “get drunk” at 13. In January 2024, I started my healing and sobriety journey.
I am grateful to be in recovery and hope to help others along in their journey by sharing my story authentically.
